About Me

Presently Avinash is an Operations Manager under Pathways - the flagship leadership development program at Amazon. In this role, he helps manage an Amazon FC in Tampa, run by 2000+ associates shipping over 50000 units a day. Avinash graduated as a Dean's List candidate from MBA at the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University in May 2018. Here, he was actively involved with the various Professional Clubs, Admission's Committee and the Orientation Team. He also received the Class of 1988 scholarship (given only to 5 students) - This is the only scholarship awarded on the basis of academic performance and contributions during one's time at Fuqua. Prior to Duke, he spent six years at sea on product tankers and specialty cruises and a year at an analytics firm, amassing extensive experience in operations, implementation strategy, crisis management, statistical analysis, and leading multinational and cross-functional teams. Avinash started his career on tankers with Shipping Corporation of India. Managing massive operation for a huge 300m long ship under extreme scarcity of resources, he got a broad exposure to real-time problem solving and standalone decision making. Driven by his passions of exploring the world, Avinash joined a Monaco-based Cruise line, Star Clippers, and traveled to 400 different locations working with teammates from over 70 nationalities. In this role, he redesigned the fuel sourcing system for his whole fleet and was also awarded for his leadership abilities during a rescue operation in a catastrophic grounding incident near Casilda. His achievements earned him fast-track promotions as he headed the hotel and deck machinery department soon. After six years at sea, Avinash decided to come back to land leveraging his experience in strategy implementation and quantitative analysis to join an analytics firm, Valiance Solution. Here as a Project Manager, he consulted several businesses in the finance and marketing sector, helping clients implement cash forecasting, credit fraud detection, and consumer retargeting solutions. Avinash is also the founder of Back to The Shores (http://backtotheshores.com), a one of a kind online platform that provides customized guidance for mariners to advance their careers. The firm has helped over 100 mariners to transition into successful industry careers. Avinash is an avid traveler who has visited over 80 countries. He has also played professional soccer in the I league second division. Further, he is passionate about dancing and card tricks.
